The Sporting Lisbon jersey in 1999/2000 - National Champion
The season that started in the last year of the 20th Century and ended in the beginning of the 21st Century saw Sporting conquer the most important silverware once again. The official kit supplier was Reebok once again, and the sponsor continued to be Telecel.
The home striped jersey and the Stromp jersey were very similar to those of the previous season, with some changes mainly in the collar. On the other hand, the away jersey from the revious season was worn a few times (with some changes in the details, such as the positioning of the Sporting crest). A third away kit was introduced, with a diagonal strip in good South American fashion.
Sporting Lisbon used many different official goal keeper jerseys, perhaps four or five or even more, also due to the signing of Peter Schmeichel.

The second away jersey: the alternative to the alternative
In 1998/99 away kits were introduced for the first time, that were not all green or all white as traditionally. They were split in two halves, the top black and the bottom yellow. In the 1999/00 season, the main away jersey was the one shown above. However, in some games the players wore away jerseys almost equal to those of the previous season. The biggest difference is the position and type of the Reebok symbol.

Schmeichel is arguably the greatest signing ever in Portuguese football, in terms of international fame of the athlete.
