The Centenary of Sporting Clube de Portugal - the Sporting shirt
In the year where Sporting Lisbon reached one century of Effort, Dedication, Devotion and Glory, reebok, in its last year of contract, provided soccer shirts almost unanimously considered as being the best since the classic years when Le Coq Sportif supplied the Sporting Lisbon kit. Later on, the Sporting 2011 2012 shirt also excited the supporters.
The home shirt is hooped as always, with a Sporting green colour as the Sporting green is, without holes on the back, and displaying the history of the Sporting crest: the four previous Club symbols since the foundation are shown below the current crest. Pure class.
The Stromp shirt is another class act, inspired in the very first Stromp jerseys from 1908 (in the first two years of the Club's existence, the shirts used were white, which is why totally white away jerseys are preferred), and proudly displaying the ancient crest. There was no third shirt this season.
These shirts are what a Sporting Clube de Portugal shirt is, a true symbol of the Club. They were completely sold out, and nowadays it can be very difficult to procure one, particularly if a specific size is needed. The limited numbered edition of 1000 shirts is still harder to find.
The only flaw was arguably the sponsor in the home shirts. The PT square remained, but no longer in black and white, instead the colours of the company were introduced, red and blue, possibly the two colors less fitting for a Sporting Clube de Portugal equipment.
A limited numbered edition was made for the main hooped shirt, which did not carry the sponsor.
