Sporting Clube de Portugal jerseys in 1998/1999: Reebok
After five excellent and two terrible years with Adidas, in 1998/99 Sporting Lisbon wore once again official home jerseys that conformed to the Sporting kit genetic inprint: sobre, hoops all around including in the sleeves. Reebok did a great job!
At the same time, the away jerseys, that so far had been white or Sporting-green, started to include other colours, such as black and yellow, and new bolder and modern designs. From now on, the away shirt would always be a surprise, while the Stromp shirt retained its status as gala kit.
Sporting had once again three different away kits: the Stromp jersey, the new split jersey with the top half in black and the bottom half in a bright green/yellow (these shirts were also worn in the next season, with some small detail changes), and still a white shirt designed especially for the UEFA cup. It was never worn by the players due to an early elimination, but there are player issue jerseys and replicas were sold in the official shop
The Telecel sponsorship, once again in black, continued to be reasonably well integrated in the jerseys.
This season marked the 17th year since Sporting Clube de Portugal occupied its rightful place in the national championship - the first.
