The Pogues FC Pogue Mahone 1982 football shirt

The Pogues were a Celtic band, never mind that they were founded in London and that most of their members were English, or born in England like the singer Shane MacGowan. Nevertheless their music is quintessentially Irish, so in verdebranco they are in the Irish shirts page. The original name of the band was Pogue Mahone, which according to Wikipedia is Irish for "kiss my arse".

In any case, once and a while verdebranco searches for green/white hooped shirts, and found this one for sale on UK ebay. That was after Brexit, and the seller announced shipping to the UK only, but after asking he was a true gentleman and accepted to ship to overseas (or over channel), at nominal postage cost - that was much appreciated by verdebranco, thanks!.

We do not really know the history of this shirt. The 82 number on the back is a reference to the year the band was formed, 1982. There was at least up to 2019 a Facebook page called The Pogues FC, and we often see Pogue Mahone t-shirts - we haven't been able to find another one of these, so, we're happy to show it here!
